Spindles Farm sentencing

No, I'll not be going...it's only a formality. IMO, whatever sentence is dished out won't be harsh enough for the pain and suffering caused to those animals.

Julie Gray, 41, and her two daughters Jodie, 26, and Cordelia, 20, had been cleared of the charges of causing unnecessary suffering but convicted of failing to protect animals from pain, injury, suffering and disease.

The three woman have also been banned from keeping, trading in, or transporting horses for a ten year period.

All three have been sentenced to 150 hours each of community work over the next three months. Julie was ordered to pay £750 in costs, while Cordelia and Jodie will each pay £500 in costs. All three are to lodge an appeal against their convictions.

James Gray senior is still to be sentenced.

I just worry how they are going to enforce a ten year ban, people like this will just carry on elsewhere under a different name and / or location.

I think there are enough people out there who are determined this will not happen, JG and family are well known enough now.

16 year old James Gray also banned from keeping, trading in or being involved in transporting horses for 10 years. Also he's subject to an 18 month supervision order.

Sadly there will always be people quite happy to work with lowlife like this.

They cannot appeal against the ban on keeping animals for the next five years. In theory they could keep animals again before the ten year ban peiod is up IF an appeal was upheld.
