Spinoff - Spinoff - Why don't you event ?

Keep falling off XC and breaking myself...thought this was a hint from on high that i'm not cut out to be an eventer, in anywhere but my own head

i dont as i dont have a horse at the moment and left the ground for the first time in 20 years a couple of weeks ago on daughter 13.3 welshie! id like to get back into it after taking the kids to shows xc etc. cant say id ever event though as i cant be arsed with dressage . ash is about to do a ODE and has run through the test about 3 times now and im bored stupid with it already but as her instructor said to her you have to do the dressage to get to the fun part of jumping!

I don't event because I realised many years ago that going xc makes me extremely sick with nerves. I would feel shaky and horrible and the adrenaline rush you are supposed to get just didn't happen - I would keep feeling sick all the way round. As a teenager I did some ODEs and lots of hunter trials, but even then I never enjoyed it, I remember throwing up in the lorry on my way to them many times. So I decided that eventing wasn't for me and enjoyed doing other things.

You're being hard on yourself! You did the 2'3ft at Croeslan! Did you come up for the horse trials last summer? They did a 1'9ft class then!

I did the minimus 1ft9 ( ?) in September and I even went round the Novice 2ft6 in pairs with a lead over all the fences- but by god I couldn't have done it without the lead! I was laughing all the way round and giggling at how fun it was but i'd have been poohing it on my own!
It was great doing the 2ft3 and 'the amazing fall' was actually fun- only because I got right back on and carried on- different story if i'd hit the fence and not the floor!

We went to Llangranog on the weekend and went clear in the pairs (some refusals in the individual class) and it was actually really good fun but combined, between me and Darce we just haven't got the bottle. I hope it will come with each visit out.

Sorry to hijack

I only put myself through it all because the feeling afterwards is fantastic-best adrenaline rush ever.
Feel sick as hell before though!

I don't event because nobody wants to buy me a nice horse and give me the money to play about

As soon as all the above happens I will be out there as love all three phases

Dressage is fascinating for the brain, SJ is my first love since forever and XC adds the adrenaline - perfect combination.

I dont even because I have a horse that doesn't "do" XC. Maybe we'd manage a 1 foot course if we had all day, but he really wouldn't enjoy it

I have come to realise that it is just not worth pushing the issue, so we will stick to dressage and showjumping.

i don't event because i don't like it simple! yet i am made to feel inferior because i don't event, yes i am a gutless crap rider, but why should i do something i do not enjoy?? why should i give up my hobby because i'm not deemed good enough because i dont event??
just a rant due to gobby local trainer who come to yard!

What you do with your horses is entirely up to you.

Utter crap, what a pleasant local trainer you have

Well.....have never had a horse who could do it before....and am a relatively useless pilot so it's never been an issue! But based on recent Hunter Trials (where someone went back and measured one of the solid fences we jumped & it turned out to be a metre!!!) and the buzz I got from that, and the fact that we're getting there with our SJ the only thing I have to face is the fact that I've never done a stressage test in my life!!

I'd really quite like to give it a go at my riding club level (not eventing ireland we're far to cr*p for that!!)

Because i don't like it! Simple really. Horse is an out and out show jumper and i have never had any interest in eventing. Plus the fences look to solid for my liking!
