Hi, I'm just wondering how long people waited after a splint to start jumping their horse again (only small x poles and straights)! She had 2 weeks of box rest and brought back into work lightly over a month:) splint is cold and hard. Also when is a good time frame to start road work and hacking again? Picture of said horse☺️

Thank you in advance for the help!

I usually do 4 weeks on controlled turnout, 2 weeks controlled turnout plus walking, 2 weeks stepping it back up, then jump.

That is for a minor splint, as in away from the joint and without lameness. If lameness/near joint then I would take longer.

To me, a young horse is worth taking the time with. I'm aware that others would not dally for as long.

If you have the time then I would definitely take it nice and slowly, better safe than sorry any day. If you jump back to it too quickly then she's a lot more likely to hurt herself again

I ride normally if sound and stop if lame. If i stop thenI stop for a month and field rest. I probably wouldn't jump for a month after they have gone sound. But i am not worried about the cosmetic finish, which might make a difference.
