Hi, got a call to say my horse has a bash to his splint bone just under knee, slight swelling, some blood and is sore to touch. What I want to know is could this result in an actual splint, and if so, when I get there how is the best way to treat this to minimise the injury/splint etc? I don't think he is lame, this was only noticed when taking rugs off and having a quick check when being brought in. And yes, he is a TB........

Rather big bump - off down there to assess damage in a bit, so need to know course of action, or should it be just cold hose, ensure it is clean and monitor? Any worse and get vet?
