splints and laser surgery

Has anyone had a splint lasered?
my arab has a splint quite close to his knee, and although there are no problems with it at the moment, the vets have advised in passing that i might want to consider laser treatment.
How long are they normally out of action for?

If its not causing any problems I would leave well alone.

I would think that the laser treatment your vet suggested would not be surgery but actual treatment with a laser. If this is the case your horse would not have to necessarily off work for this treatment.

Other things to look at would be Splintex to appy to the splint - we have had success with this. We have also used a cold water spa to help with splints on show horses.
