Hi I have a 4yr old Trekkaner x Sec D as you can imaging he is quite a big lad, broke last Autumn and turned away for winter. Now has 2 splints both front legs just below knees on inside ! Dilemma is do I treat them and if so how ? Or just leave them alone ? There is no heat, and he has not been lame on them.

I would just leave them, i dont think there is any thing you can treat them with anyway, some horses may be lame with them and have swellings, others they just appear with no other signs.

Thanks I wasn't too sure ? He defo hasn't been lame, they just appeared and are the same on both sides ! So at least its equal. Do you know how long they usually take to disappear or is it something he will always have ? You hear of youngsters splints disappearing ?

Hi, my horse had four splints when he was 4 , i had them treated with sockwave treatment it didnt work , so leave them and hopefully they will go, my horses went at 7 years old in the end. good luck . xx
