Any thoughts? I've never come across two splints on the same leg before.

He's totally sound but has two splints on his NF and one on his OF. He's stabled at night and out during the day (he often gallops about madly on initial turnout).

A yearling arab I had years ago threw a massive splint a week before a major show, he wasn't lame so I took him( on advice from breeder) . As he grew the splint got smaller and smaller, eventually at 5yrs old you would of never knew he had one.

Thanks for the replies so far, I guess that I've been lucky and I've never come across 'active' or recently formed splints before (they are much bigger than I expected). I know that in theory they aren't a problem, but it's nice to have that comfirmed. :)

Interestingly the youngster in question is an arab.

My Anglo threw one as a 3yo, left him for 3 weeks with mag boots on for an hour a day. Now 7, you cant see a thing and he is very fine
