Splints in horses

Can you get splints on a horses hind legs? I was looking up about them for a friend and noticed its mainly on front legs. So can they develop on hind legs, and if so whereabouts? can they develop on the cannon bone on the hind leg? sorry dont know much about them.

Yup - and pretty much in the same place as on the fronts. Mine has one on his hind and it only really meant an extra day on danilon and boxrest on how long his front ones took (about 2 days ) His hind one is not as obvious though and you have to feel it, rather than one of the front ones that you can see if you're looking for it.
