Hi,
I have a 3 year old who has recently developed splints in both front legs. She has not had any work done with her other than walking (and only walking) out on 10 minute hacks with other horses to get her used to traffic when she was 2 and has been turned away for the winter.
The splints aren't causing her any discomfort but it's worrying me. I've never had experience with splints before so shall I call a vet out or is there any supplement or home treatment I can do? Or do I just leave them? Also why could she have developed them? She's kept in a 8 acre field that is full of hills and with her being so young, she loves to run around so I don't know if she's hurt her legs in there. She isn't stabled so she's out 24/7 all winter and summer
Thanks in advance
