Split mouth any miracle cures out there???!!!!

My boy had been playing up with bucks since last fridays XC schooling. Couldnt exlain it until i looked in his mouth he has sores on both sides slightly inside (only visible wide open).explains his behaviour as they look sore but healing well. Anyone got any other tips to either avoid it in the future apart from vasaline, not pulling( which i only did when he landed on my ponys bum!) and softer bit, I use a chucky french link but have gone back to the fulmer

Any cures, or experiences welcome, have given him the resy of the week on the lunge
 
1. Mouth sores heal quickly so don't worry
2. Check the bit fits him in terms of width, type to suit his mouth conformation, and thickness (if he has small/large mouth).
3. Try to put something pleasant on the bit to encourage salivation as bits don't rub so much in a wet mouth - apple jelly/mint/etc.
4. Ride him in a hackamore on a long rein for a while...
5. Avoid sawing and booting!

Thanks will try the hemmeroid cream. He is 4 so I dont saw or boot and a hackamore isnt really practical

Wanted some cream advice really. Use vasaline already but will def try the old pile cream!!

Are the sores possibly from sharp teeth? Sorry, if you have had them checked recently, then please ignore me!!!
 
Allum salts. I got the tip from Nick Skeltons book. Get some from the chemists, dilute in water, soak a cloth in it, wrap the cloth and secure it round a bit and get the Horse to wear it for a while. Apparently it works really well.
 
I used germalene "second skin" on H's mouth when I stupidly let someone else ride her (they used far too much hand and far too little leg!

) - after the second skin I'd lather on the vasalene before bitting - it did work but it took some time to heal - lesson learned for me... ride H myself!

I've had this problem with my new boy. The sight of a bit made his mouth cut open. I rode him for a while in a hackamore and used anusol cream, sudocream and vaseline. However my trainer told me not to use vaseline as it is petroleum based and has a nasty effect on sores! I then bought some camrosa. I was told to continue riding him in a bit but apply the camrosa before I put the bit it (camrosa leaflet tells you to not use a bit, but part of the problem with me was that he needed to harden to a bit). Within a few weeks he had become used to the bit, his mouth had healed and he now mouths beautifully and is so, so happy. Working through it wouldn't suit every horse but I did so on the advice of my trainer and 2 vets that had run out of options to treat it!

This is Lucinda Greens tip too.
She said you should sew some gamgee round the bit, soak it in alum and attach it to the headcollar or an old bridle and the horse should wear for several hours a day until healed.

Do not ride with a bit until healed.
 
milles mouth can spolit also, i ust put vasaline in the corner of her mouth before every ride and she is fine, just means it doesnt pull on dry skin.
