Spoiling for an argument......

What was I thinking of trying to start an argument on a Friday night.......yes please I want to indulge in the Moet under the sink - and yes thanks for all you responses, and you all pouring a huge amount of scorn on my self pity........you have all shown that it is impossible to pull a sob story on this forum- well done all of you. Whatever happens to me re salary over the next few months / years - yes of course I will remain strong and find away to keep our family (and associated nags going) as we have always have done.....but I am a little dissapointed that I could not initiate a fight - clearly I am going to have to do continue to do it via other main stream posts - but my heart is not really in it - we all have such differing opinions - but then that is what all keeps us interested in this forum I suppose...??

I hate all the evangelisitic posts on this forum - about how we are all crap re still shoeing our horses, and occassionally waving a stick at them if they are badly behaved....
Then I also have to get my head around what I feed the darlings - micronised linseed V a bit of Spillers (or own brand stuff......) Far too taxing.....
Then I have to worry about getting my nag the right saddle / the right instructor/ the right amount of bling on his bridle.......
Then I worry about what my YO might be posting about me - I am the YO - so doubly worried....arghhh
I am so clearly old fashioned to remember a time before masses of consumerable durables (NZ rugs made of nice light fabrics/ saddles that did not have a linen lining - a groom called Perkins........?)
Clearly feeling sorry for myself - is anyone else?? Does someone wnat to pick a fight re the above - well up for it!! xx

There is a very useful book by Susan McBane about keeping a horse on a budget - sorry, can't remember the title and I lent my copy out and didn't get it back. Full of useful ways to save money.

If the situation really starts to bite sell the kids and keep the horses.

Totally agree with that comment. Horses are much easier than kids, dam sight cheaper as well, especially as Mini TX has just given me her xmas present list and I reached swiftly for a large glass........ shock horror.

Mind you if you really want to pick a fight, pm me, I will give you some advice ............
 
Perhaps you should take your shoes of and check yourself for ulcers??
This time of year is the most difficult for most people. Think of it this way, it will go two ways, the world will end and fall off its axis, or it will all work out eventually. Think of what you do have (fab kids, horses, yard) which is a lot more than most have and ride it out. It will all be better come nextyear. X
 
If you were truly pragmatic you wouldn't be whining on here about it you would just be getting on with things. Take their shoes off and throw them outside on adlib hay, rug if you have any. Rent stables out to someone fluffier. Problem solved. :rolleyes:

Fimacob - you are so right - and when I said I was YO (it is yard of my horses, no one elses) Why should I feel self pity - and I already do my three on a shoe string - regretting (slightly, but only slightly, as it has been a bit amusing) that I started this post in the first place.....
But, I am also wondering why I got the reaction I did (is it because I am a serial poster myself? and people recognised that? ) because what I was posting is a serious issue for many, and for me, though because I am lucky (or not) to be married to a landowner/ farmer our precarious situation re horse keeping will not be as bad someone who relies on renting land/ stables. Though I could write an essay or two on why horses / ponies are considered 2nd class citizens on premuim farm land, and how hard I have have to work over the years to make my husband appreciate that using a few acres of our farm to horses is worth while (and I only suceeded in the economic argument by becoming a reluctant horse dealer for many years.........) Let me tell you, that whilst I proved I could do that job (as horse dealer) I was much happier, when the kids were older to return to work in my mainstream career as Economic Devt Officer (not horse dealer - that was tough, and not always nice...........)

On the picking arguments side of things, it's Friday night, many people to choose from! any controversial subject will soon descend into a pit of never ending wrongs ;) Simples!:cool:

Yes , have many more kids ! The first batch are old enough to start looking after any new additions. Useful for when you want to off and play with your horses. :)

I am about to sell the kids on Ebay - but like you, dissapointed that no one has really got stuck into this - I started off anti bare foot, anti specialist feeds / anti bling / anti whipping because we all enjoy it....and hardly anyone has waded in.......and then there was the potential of me claiming benifits - a couple mentioned, but not seriously really - shame!

But this is the most 'trending' article of a Friday night - so not all bad........i.e. do you want to pick a fight or have a discussion on saddle fitting? Why my horse hated me tonight ( I t did not want to go in the bloody school with that hated instrutor again.....) why does my horse bite me when I feed it (leave the poor ****** alone to eat his feed in peace) why is my horse cold tonight (you gave it a hunter clip you numpty...) or why does my horse hate its OP / YO - it is embarrased to be the subject of your post - because it has its own credibility to think about........
 
You have children and horses and land and think that you should be given state benefits, when you have been a drain on the 'proper' tax payers because if you have been working for a Local Authority (and getting a gold plated pension) you are not a productive part of the economy. You will have to take the shoes of the horses, buy an angle grinder and 'trim' the hooves yourself......
Is that the sort of argument you wanted? I do hope so, 'cos I can't remember any other long threads, unless you want to train the horses, or children, Parelli style to make them more saleable :D :D :D
 
Well I've gotten myself caught up in yard politics over someone else's horse so I've enough strife right now over that. Took shoes off and horse very foot sore but still being ridden!

No no no FestiveG; OP was a scourge of the earth dealer for many years so gold plated pension is a recent addition :rolleyes::D

Oh you are having a bad evening (no Moet under your kitchen sink, evidently) - or do you have a mega chip on your shoulder.......my post does not talk about benefits I would want to have if I lose my job - and have you not kept abrest of recent Govt announcments, not least the Autumn statement of the last day or so? Give up the Daily Mail and use the Internet to keep yourself abrest of current affairs - no such thing of the public sector doing good anymore - and who do you work for? and who are you to judge the work I have been doing? I recently acquired £2.25M for the local community - have you done similar???

We don't keep the Moet under the sink :p I most certainly have not stolen £2.25M of hard earned tax payers money for the underserving of the community, I think they should work for their own funds, nothing wrong with children up chimneys (although I do think they would have to be very small ones to get up modern chimneys, or old ones with liners in!). I never suggested that the public sector EVER did good work, (and trust me neither did my senior managers :p)

Good grief this is hard work :D

Oh dear - best for us to keep our discussions to the lovely clippy clops and not the dreaded public services......though my £2.25M was for grass routes community delivery - and not this prgramme, but a similar one I was invoved with, gave a grant for a lovely XC course for all the local clippy clops to have fun with...........So tell me about your horses / ponies, because we might have more common ground on this subject, than wider ones, I suspect, and I am interested, genuinely......

I suggest you question my experience/sanity, then be rude about my horses and perhaps also my appearance. I have mad, cat-lady hair; lots of material to work with there :)

Now dont get me started on saddle fitting. Dont know why people bother, just get an old one off ebay and chuck it on, god thats how it worked years ago
Horse may buck a little, but if you cant sit to it, your clearly not the rider you profess to be.
