i know im probably know the answer to this but i just want to know what you lot would do....

ok so theres this sponsored ride on the 25th of march, its 7 miles with optional jumps, i really want to go here are my options:

take Herbie who might just manage the ride a jump or 2 depending his condition state. but i think would benifit from going. never been

take Zeus who will just about manage the small jumps, fizzles out really quickley. ill be annoyed with myself for not jumping the bigger ones. been twice once me riding once my sis

take Tom who flys over the huge jumps and gives me bags of confidence. all ready thinking about the big jumps and doubting myself as i havent jumped anything challenging since i last took him a year ago. been twice on him

im thinking i should take herbie for his confidence, but then im not sure if hes physically up for it.

oh i dont want, what would you do??

I think take tom, if you build up your confidence then when Herbie is fit you will ride him better and get more out of it.

If you don't mind me asking, where is this sponsored ride as your location says London and i am from around London aswel!

take tom he'll give you heaps of confidence!! Then when Herbie is in a better state you can take him to a diff party where you can give him confidence
Have fun who ever you decide to take x x x

Go for herbie, if hes never been before this will be a good chance for him and for you to find out what he'll be like.
There will be loads more fun rides to take your other horses too

Actually now ive looked how many wonderful jumps there are (fantastic course) go for Tomand go for all those big ones, ohh can i come lol! even though its hours away from me

Herbies 7, hes only been broken about 2 years so hes a late starter. but im only riding him about twice a week at the mo so i doubt he will be fit enough

its well worth the travel, iv been 3 years on the trott and i know id be gutted if i didnt jump the big ones as i know Tom can do them.

hes mine friends horse and i havent ridden him since we went last year and havent jumped anywhere near that height since! they seem alot bigger in real life!! lol

i dont think you can just go there whenever but they have things going on every now and again, hunts are held there, not up todate with their usuall activities, it is actually run by army guys so i think it still a working air field.

im just worried coz i know if i take Tom (which i still have to ask if i can lol and theres me just assuming she will let me take him) i will have to jump the big ones!! where as i know if im not able to jump them on Herbie i will want to jump them.....

god why am i so fussy!! iv got till the 20th of march to decide so pleantly of time i guess! lol

I used to live near halton and used to ride at the saddle club there at the RAF base. The ground on the airfield gets really quite boggy and it is quite a long way all the way round. I'm not sure I would take an unfit youngster at the moment cos after all this rain the ground would tire him out even more. Saying that it is a really good place to take them for the experience. Its a tricky one. You could go with him and just do half of it and them head back to the lorry park. That is do-able with the layout of the ride.

Could you then take Tom round after that, cos by then you'd then be itching to get at the big jumps!!!

I'm jealous. I used to love doing the sponsored ride there. I'm too far away now to justify the long drive!!!

Whoever you take have fun!!!

Jo

ETS yes it is a working airfield and base so this is the best opportunity to go. I'm not sure if thy hire out the top part of the course but the airfield jumps aren't used that often. Only for this and the RAF champs I think

I would take who ever your gut feeling is telling you to take, Sorry not much help i know

I never done it before so don't know the course but i am going this year !! ive allready entered and have got quite a nice early time
Maybe i'll see you there !
