I'm a bit confussed about the roles of the Sponsors and the owners.
Are theses right...:
Sponsors role is to pay for running costs e.g entry fees, travels fees, transport etc...

And is the owners role to buy the horse and pay for tack, livery, vet, farrier etc...

Or have i got these wrong? Bit of a dump question :o

Owners pay for everything relating to their horse, they provide tack, pay for entry fees, rugs etc.

The role of the sponsor depends on the individual agreement, but generally speaking the sponsor will provide products eg/ rider wear, boots, feed, supplements. Generally it is products that the sponsor sells/makes and it is not monetary, however there are some agreements where a sponsor may cover entry fees etc. It really depends on the agreement you have.

I think it depends on the level... Good amateurs and non-Big Name professionals rarely have any running costs covered by sponsors - these are usually paid for by the owner of the horse. Sponsors normally seem to provide material assets (feed, fuel, equipment, insurance etc) to the rider in return for advertising.

Though at the top levels I guess sponsors would be willing to put in more funding in return for association with a big name!
