Is it possible to get sponsorship when you are just competing at lower levels of eventing (BE90/100)? Or is this only for the likes of international riders?
My horse is very eye-catching and gets a lot of comments at events so I thought this might be good for a sponsor. I have already made my own website, but it's very out-dated. I do have 1 company that's willing to sponsor me but how would I get any more?
Anyone got any experiences/suggestions, would be greatful.

Talk to chloe_GHE who IMO has done a fantastic job of making herself known and thus has attained several sponsors

The only downside would be that the company itself has to become a member of BE so that they can advertise wile competing. Otherwise, ive seena fair few people doing it. What i always wonder is how much (money wise) you actually get out of it?

It is possible, but it's damn hard work. Work with the sponsor that you have achieved, get them some results, work with them, and see how that goes. I wouldn't go for multiple sponsors yet.

How much does it cost for a company to become a member?
At the moment I don't get money, just items such as saddlecloths and rugs with the company logo on it.

cost is on the BE website somewhere. under 'company membership' or something like that. i also find that at lower levels unless you are planning on moving up nov+ it is very difficult to keep sponsors. i was offered sponsorship from devoucoux at novice a couple of years ago on one of my event ponies but he packed in eventing and as i didnt have another horse then or one who could progress they were very polite but said you know we dont want to sponsor you anymore which was totally fair enough as they werent getting another viewing etc out of it so it wasnt really of any benefit to them.

You cant even use those saddlecloths at BE without the company being a member.
Think very carefully about wether it is worth it as it moves you from doing it for pleasure to competing for gain so has all sorts of implications for your travel arrangements ie.tachographs on lorry or towing vehicle and operators licence. I am afraid this is what everybody forgets about until they get caught out.

I know lots of people who use logo'd saddlecloths etc BE without the company being a member and not one has been pulled up on it yet....it's a risk, sure, but frankly when you are pootling about at intro/PN/novice they do not seem to care much. I have a sneaky suspicion that BE changed the rules this season too but no time to check.

And as long as the sponsorship you get does not exceed the amount it costs you to run an event horse, then you are not competing for gain and the rules do not apply in that way - I've checked it all out v carefully as I had a sponsor last season.

TBH, if you do, no one will pull you up.
my friend has a numnah with fox saddlery logo on (hes not even sponsored by them or anything , lol )
and he wore it for his intro. dont know why, just did. no one said anything.

What happens if you win a saddlecloth with the company logo on at BE? Are you then not allowed to use it at future comps?

Dunno, but why would you want to? That's giving them free advertising
