Me and my instructor have made a start to my sponsorship letter for my last year in ponies, but she thinks i should do a bit of research first to see what possible sponsors would want to hear. I'm at shows every weekend with my instructor grooming so id be advertising jackets etc, i currently have no transport of my own for shows so that's what i need help with and some equipment and i could pay the rest. We aren't very sure which way to put it? Anyone had similar experiences to share? Also in CR

Don't tell sponsors you want transport, equipment etc! You need to tell them what you can do for them not the other way round! Tell them your achievements to date, how far & wide you go & at what level you compete. Also if sending letters to non horsey companies don't use too much horsey talk they won't understand!! Don't expect offers to come flooding in - my daughter competes sj nationally around the country (also her last year on ponies next year) & she is still finding it terribly hard to find sponsorship.

Good luck! xx

you need to give a company a reason to part with goods or money in an economic downturn. Think outside the box, dont just aim for the obviously horsey companies - all horsey folks do this. Try local first

are you out and about every weekend and nearly always placed, and hopefully top 3 in each class?

If not i think you are on a hiding to nothing TBH. To get sponsorship from a company you have no links to, you really need to be doing very well before a company will consider it as they get requests for sponsorship day in and day out.

TBH most people (outside the top level) with a sponsor are connected to that sponsor in some way - either a friend or relatives company.

If you don't have any transport, and are lacking equipment then (and i may be completely wrong here) i would suspect you are not out winning regularly (ie most weekends) in which case you are going to find it hard finding a sponsor as you probably won't have enough to offer them to make it worth their while.
