Sponsorship Opportunities?

Hi all,

I am an event rider in Lincolnshire currently seeking any sponsorship opportunities or advice on the best way to obtain sponsorship?

I have one horse at BE Intermediate level and another one who is hoping to go Novice this season. Also both horses are at Newcomer/Foxhunter level BSJA. I have now finished university but at my time there I was part of the National Championship team that took gold in 2012. Alongside my two top horses I have started to attract some owners with lovely young horses.

I am looking for some support now going into the 2013 season and believe I could offer brilliant advertisement for any local business as I have good connections not only in my local area but also in the South of England. Also if someone wants to get involved I am happy for people to come to events and see my horses at home.

I just wondered if there was any businesses or individuals out there looking to support a local rider? I compete not only at the big events in Lincolnshire but at International events across the country. I would also be extremely happy to receive some advice about the best way to achieve sponsorship.

Have you tried entering things like the Supastuds/ Maxavita sponsorship stuff? If you keep an eye on the Eventing magazine, stuff comes up. My sister is only 18, and riding 2 ex-racers at BE100 yet got into the highly commended category from nearly 200 applicants. You'd be a far more enticing prospect than her... You just have to keep an eye open and work really hard at the application!

Then are you on facebook/ twitter, self-promoting in a way that shows companies how well you could promote them? Active Youtube channels are also great ways to self-promote.

There's lots on here about looking for sponsorship, in the Comp. Riders section if you search. But essentially, as everyone says on here, it needs to be all about what you can offer the company rather than what they can offer you...

Ribbonsettes, "the original & best creator of High End quality items made from prize rosettes, ribbon tails and sashes", are currently running a Sponsorship competition on their facebook page "Ribbonsettes".
Also, keep an eye out for more Sponsorship competitions/oppurtunities in magazines such as 'Horse', H&H and Eventing as well as on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
It might be worth considering creating a website and Facebook/Twitter/Youtube pages dedicated to you as an Event Rider, as self promotion. Potential sponsors are interested in riders who will promote their company - they want to gain something out of the sponsorship so you could also dedicate a page on your website telling potential sponsors what you have to offer. Take a look at other event riders' websites and social networking pages for inspiration, but remember to make yourself stand out from the crowd!
