Have a look at the RS Tor, might help

I second this! I would definitely get one, I had one on my previous mare and because youre always holding it you dont have to be wuick to grab it. My mare had me off a couple of times while i used it and both times i landed on my feet right next to her! ?.

I would also scale things back a bit but set yourselves up for success, BP, RS-Tor.

I’m happy to go back to 4 times per week! It’s just difficult to know what to do with conflicting advice around - and it’s her owner/breeder who keeps urging me to work her til she’s sweating! (I’m ignoring the owner on this bit of advice!)
I keep her out at night and give her hay during the day with a handful of fibre nuggets as a reward for any work.

Thats fair enough, its really difficult when everyone has a different opinion, I'm sorry if I added to any stress. We all do things differently, I outlined a way that has worked well for me, but you have to find what works best for you and the individual horse

Don't be hard on yourself riding a older spooky horse you have known forever is entirely different to a freshly backed 5 year old you don't really know at all.

Some horses are just much more athletic and quicker, I have Arabs so I am familiar with spooking and one of mine is so quick compared to the other one and his the bigger one but you can feel how much sharper he is.

I know she is young but I find a bit of lateral work helps focus mine on me rather than what is going on around the arena, generally giving them a bit more to think about to make them use there brain can help as well.
