I know most people are winding down for the year but we have one last jumping comp... We are going EVENTING! I'm pretty excited, I need to go ride, wash and plait later. And learn my test haha.

I am hoping Henry will get a ride in over the weekend too, he has spent the week relaxing after his wins last week. He did get to go for a walk while baby sitting yesterday. I think he likes that job. Walk with the baby horse. If baby horse trots, just keep walking. Baby horse stop, keep walking. HE thinks the baby horse can be a bit silly, why waste energy when you could just walk!?

I have our parish harvest home tonight. Without sounding too much like a country bumpkin we get mince and tatties for tea, ceilidh music, Scottish dancing and many drams. So I may be a bit worse for wear tomorrow.

I must practice a new dressage test for next weekend. Weathers looking pretty decent for the weekend so need to do that. Will give you more details in next weekends thread but it should be fun.

good luck @Accidental Eventer. Have a good one everyone.

I was supposed to take my little madam to the beach for the very first time (I've been dreaming of it for four years now. I've ridden her half brother and half sister - neither of them mine - on the beach, but never my own) but unfortunately, the friend I was going with's pony is lame, so I'm taking the dog instead to accompany her while in hand walking.

Nova has the physio today so she has today and tomorrow off. It’s come at a good time as her saddle check on Tuesday and there was unevenness in the flocking (brand new saddle so not uncommon) so will be good to just get her back seen to.

I am visiting Pony tomorrow! First time I will have seen him in nearly 5 months. I am nervous and excited all in one go.

Nova is going on a short solo hack on Sunday - we are lucky that our back gate goes out onto decent off-road hacking. But we will only be plodding about 5 mins one way and 5 mins back. And then I am taking a super horse to a jumping clinic. He’s the one I’ve been riding on and off recently and he’s just so good. I am feeling very lucky and hopefully I am not too out of practise (haven’t jumped properly since June!)

We have routine chiro vet later this morning so tomorrow off (have got a hack in today 1st thing), probably hacking on Sunday.
Tho I did have a super Halloween dressed jumps sj session on Weds morning, B fuzzy was very enthusiastic and popped everything 1st time, inc a fence with bats hanging off the back pole!
Good luck to those competing, whatever you are doing, hope you enjoy it x

After a two week holiday and the death of my father upon my return, I hadn't ridden for a month or so. I do however have pros coming in to ride so horse has been in full work. I had first lesson early doors this morning before work as wanted my instructor on hand for my first time back on - all I can say is thank goodness for muscle memory.

I have a grid clinic on Sunday and will do a sloppy hack tomorrow (taking in the countryside on a long rein) so am fully expecting to be doing the full John Wayne walk on Monday in the office!

I am drinking a pumpkin spice coffee in bed having done Boggle before the working day starts. Tomorrow evening having sushi, pumpkin carving and scary movies with my American Amigos!

And getting on this dude for the first time in Colorado. Cannot wait. Wish me luck though…

Arts has a mysterious tendon sheath swelling ATM and has been on box rest for 3 weeks, so poor Pebbles has had a sudden step up to the main horse role, bless her. So me and her are at a flatwork clinic tomorrow and then a dressage comp on Sunday. She's never competed really as we mainly just hack so should be a fun experiment ?. In between will hack the big fella and hand walk Arty with a side activity of stressing about her leg

I bought a horse ??

Exciting! Pics soon? :D

I visited (hopefully) new share horse today, just for a groom and a fuss. She loved it and I really enjoyed the time with her.

Had a lesson this morning. Was feeling a bit wobbly going in but my instructor is really understanding and it ended up being a great lesson. Big smile coming out!

Oooh! And going back to visit my previous share horse on Sunday. It is a four hour round trip but she's worth it! I have been missing her immensely.

Retrospective, but ended up doing a polework session today and finished with a small jump. The weather has been so rubbish recently (high winds and driving rain) I have been nervous of planning anything, but the school had dried out a bit and I had a little bit of help on the ground, so that was really nice.

Good luck/well done to all those competing!

It was a Beautiful day today so I hauled my hungover bum outside and took Tali a hack. Probably should’ve practiced dressage but it was too nice not to venture out. She was a lot of fun today. One moment I was riding at the end of the buckle, the next she was pretending to spook at something that wasn’t there ? absolutely love my CL bareback pad. Also got the paddle boards out and had a swim in the sea. Productive hangover day FB6E3E60-5C22-4C46-830F-FE22F2A2DB26.jpg

Yey, we went clear around the team chase today. We led all the way again and he was a superstar ?
Quite a long course this time, still too fast for placings however I have decided the bogey time is pot luck!
Who cares anyway, we had a ball. So proud and waiting eagerly for photos.
Sounds good. I see Melon and Cyrname were out in a team last week. Imagine they may be quite fast. Must come and watch one at some point.

All finished competing for the year :)

He was really good, I’ve felt like a dogs bum for a couple of days to the point I almost WD but picked up a bit this morning so stuck it out.

Expensive mistakes in both A102 and the PSG but the trickier bits were better we just lost a few points on silly things. Easy to correct. 2 months away from the white boards now and it’ll be 3 months before he comes back out at PSG. Hacking tomorrow!

Wow he's muscled up! Looks fabulous. And I love the colour of your jacket

Is he having the winter off totally or are you just giving him a break from dressage?

Really pleased with his condition, he’s so hard to get chunk on (and I mean strength wise not just blubber).

Just not competing, he will have a week off here and there to rest his brain. Got some jumping and XC pencilled in.

Experiment with the small hairy one can be considered a success. She was a delight to take out yesterday and today, like taking out a pony with ten times her experience. It was just a little unaffiliated prelim test but nevertheless I was really chuffed with how rideable she was and that we got ourselves a little red rosette with just shy of 70%. Think I might BD register her for the winter while I'm sorting Arty out and building her back up.

Clever little barbarian pony

018D1CAD-D49D-4BC2-96B4-5D6E3ECBF9DE.jpegBusy old time at Aston le walls camp with the riding club. Great venue and facilities. I like the format of these ones as they do 2 sessions Friday and Saturday then a mock ode on the Sunday with a very relaxed and encouraging format. Met some lovely people who were very patient with my clingy horse who gets anxious if his neighbours leave but we managed it reasonably successfully to stop him getting too het up.

Lots of improvement from when I did the same camp last year. More control, less leaping and boinging, and more of a team together. I was even eyeing up some of the bigger (for me) jumps and felt like I would have a go out on the grass xc (we did arena training as the ground was too wet). Our last xc was in April when I fell off and I haven’t ventured out since then so this was a really good confidence boost.

All quiet with Finn (after melanoma treatment and surgery) which is a good sign I hope although his neck (infection from the catheter) isn’t healing quickly despite heavy antibiotics and he’s now on strong pain killers which may be masking things. ?

Well this weekend was pretty great. The physio said the area of Nova’s back that we are keeping an eye on is improving and said to start introducing simple lateral work to her - obviously in-hand first. So I have a few groundwork sessions in the diary for the next few weeks.

Visiting Pony was equal parts heartbreaking and amazing. I didn’t get to ride him as his loaner had accidentally booked the physio for 9.30. But I didn’t mind - it was just good to see his little face again. I miss him so much and if I had the space/time/money, would have him back in an instant. But he’s happy and so is his loaner.

No hack for Nova yesterday as the weather was just awful and time was quite tight anyway. But I had the most amazing lesson on my friends’ horse. He’s very much a schoolmaster, but with a little sprinkling of spice. We didn’t jump particularly big - only up to about 80cm - but it’s the first time since May that I have properly jumped like that!
