I have an 18yr old TB who has lived out 24/7 for the past 6 years, including snow!! (Has to live out as had lymphangitis so vet advised complete turnout). Absolutely will not be stabled for more than time to eat a feed!! He and his 33 year old best mate have just been given 2 new field buddies, unfortunately the 2 newbies are quite young and want to play. My 18 year old now thinks he's a 2 year old again. No problems really except for the odd lost shoe and now a few cuts and bumps, nothing major (TOUCH WOOD!!). I used to use the turnout socks when he was sensible and would live in at night but gather you can only use them for 12 hours at a time.

Anyone got any ideas or can they be used for longer? He is checked and brought in for exercise every day so they can be removed for a couple of hours each day. Sportabac appear not to have a website anymore so can't ask them so would appreciate any advice or maybe suggestions for other products. Trying to avoid Equi chaps due to financial restraints!!

I have used these and the westroppe ones which I liked more. I used nettex mud fever powder inside and changed them each day for dry ones. Taking home the other ones and washing and drying. I only did this for a short time as I then stabled at night.

Sportabac do not exist any more. The most similar are the Castle Turnout Socks, but I don't think you will find a boot that can be left on for longer than 8-10 hours a day. Also you will need spare pairs so they can be cleaned & dried, otherwise you just make the problem worse.
