Is this just another name for a bsja event? I was grooming at a bsja show today and it said "Approximately the first 6 competitors on horses aged 16 and over in this class will also qualify for sportjumping at Gleneagles on the 15 October 2011". We stupidly thought it was talking about the age of the horses but it was actually the human lol, but anyway it was just a normal bsja show, normal round and then a jump off. I don't really understand why its called this and whats the difference, anyone got any idea?
 
The qualifiers for the Gleneagles final were held at British Showjumping competitions under their rules as part of an agreement that we have with them, but the final was under Sportjumping rules. In Sportjumping a handicap in time is given to try and create a level playing field for all the competitors. It is primarily about betting and that is why the age limit was given in the qualifying information. The website details were on the schedule for each of the qualifiers.
The information about the e-mail address on the Gleneagles website was incorrect. If you go to www.sportjumping.com all the rules and information about the handicapping is there. You can also like it on facebook and that way you can be kept up to date.
