Being an averagely endowed 36C I was wondering how many of you ladies insist on wearing a specialist sports bra for riding, or do you just rely on your good quality normal one.

What size are you, and which brands at which level would you recommend?

I cant help not being quite so well endowed myself however I did have a very well endowed friend who used to strap herself up with a crepe bandage so she didnt lose an eye when sitting trot in her dressage test.

Shock Absorber works well, particularly the new two-tone racer back style. I can't find any bras that stay on my shoulders well, and find it embarrassing to retrieve escapees, but have got away with layering with a tight sports top (under a loose t-shirt type top). Not fussed if going jumping, as body protector has more effect than any bra I've ever worn!

I'm a 36 dd, I've not found any that are half decent, although the best is a Pure Lime one which cost around £37, very comfy. I wish I had small boobies

Never go out without my shock absorber! For some reason decided to give my daughters lesson a demonstration on jumping a small bounce(on foot) the other week, as I 'cantered' up to it I heard my 8yr old daughter say to her friends "uh ohhhh! mum hasn't got her scaffolding on!!" cue me to fold my arms tightly for take off!!lol

Mmm interesting post as we were talking about this subject in a forum of a horse group I am a member of. Personally I don't wear sports bras as I have yet to see any big enough although after last night's discussion I have found the name of a company that supplies items for bigger boobs and are reasonable too.
To be perfectly honest I get rather psd off that us larger ladies end up paying considerably more for bras. There doesn't seem to be many sales in the larger cup sizes now does there? It is usually A to C cup only which does annoy me to be honest.
I would love to know what perception bra manufacturers have of the average sized lady in the UK.Anyway I normally wear a wired and non wired bra during the day but only wear non wired on horseback. There was a post a short while ago about someone who had got injured by an underwired bra as they fell off and got speared by the wire in the bra.
Yesterday I recommended the Triumph Doreen bras as one of the most supportive non wired bras for larger boobs. I still stand by that. It may not be that pretty but it holds them up very well and gives support whilst being comfortable. I know that the range has improved in recent years and they do offer more stylish versions of the bra nowadays and in different colours too, but I am referring to the classic.
Being personal now but asked for sizes, in that one I am a 38J and my underwired is a 38GG.
The Doreen one cost me around £18 in an offer but is usually around the £20 or so mark.
Last night I found a company that does sports bras for larger boobs like mine and one I found was £28 which I thought was pretty reasonable, especially when I was trying on underwired bras in a shop the other week that were nothing special and some were as much as £37 !( the mind boggles)
Anyway here is the company if you wish to have a look. You can request a catalogue which is what I have done.

sports bras etc

oooh thats a good website, thanks Caz! Just noticed your name 'staffs oatcake' you must be pretty local to me!

i did have 40dd's after having my son, i couldnt even run up the stairs without 2 blackeyes lol. i went to a proper bra shop and got measured, to my amazment the shop keeper said that it was surprising how many women actually wear the wrong size bra (just pick a size of the shelf in a supermarket) which doesnt give them the support they need.
i am lucky now tho because mine where sooo bad i took to drastic measures neally 3yrs ago and had mine reduced to a 36d much more manage-able. i did go into a supermarket the other day tho and tryed on a bra that i liked only to find that with that brand i was a size 36c!! so it does also depend on the brand!

so please ladies go and get measured it can make a hole difference to you! from bad back ache to grooves in your shoulders etc all ales of a badly fitting bra!

I can't get shock absorbers in my size but I find I'm more comfortable wearing a normal bra and a body protector, holds them nicely in place

having tried many different makes and models to keep my 34DD under control I have just found the mew triumph bra brilliant, and its quite cheerful too in white, navy and red, best of all it has gel, a bit like prolite in the dhoulder straps. Get mine from boobydoo on line or less bounce are very helpful too, its worth going to a specialist.

I've found that sports bras squash my tiny little 36E's and make me really uncomfortable. Believe it or not the best bra's I have found are just buck standard underwired ones from Asda £6 - plenty of support, comfortable and look great - not that anyone ever see's mine except when they are on the line!
