Hi Guys,

Phantom Foal Mummy has just been scanned and had PG injection, she is off to the stallion on Sunday night, so fingers crossed.

This is the mare who wouldn't let the stallion cover her last year, kept scooting her bum under when ever he tried to cover her causing him to pop out, then didn't come back into season for rest of year!

She is going up for another try at natural covering, however if she still won't let him cover her, am thinking of using AI. The stallion she is going to doesn't do AI so am finding myself stallion shopping again.

This foal will most likely be for sale, please no lectures about breeding in current cilmate (not that you guys would!) will be in no rush to sell foal and plan to show it etc until the right buyer comes along.

Mare is 14hh balck New Forest with lovely movement and conf, and ideally would like a mother/daughter share type out of her, 14.2-15hh that that will do a bit of everything, so maybe a sports pony stallion like Upton's Deli Circus?

Any other suggestions? As she is small would rather have something 15.2hh or below also as am breeding for sale needs to be stallion with good competition record. Would rather have a good competition record for stallion than great bloodlines.

Suggestion gratefully recevied, remember must do AI! :D

I think the perfect place to start is the Sport Pony Studbook Society website.

www.sportpony.org.uk

I have a Laban 3 yr old (he has since passed away) and have my other mare being AI-ed soon to Bernwode Brokat - I would suggest you had a look at him.

Other suggestions for an allround type would be Eindershof Jamai, Jonkers Metyo, K.B. Etoile De Lumiere, Manitu N, and Orchard Glasnost, for starters.

They are all UK based, so makes logistics far easier.

Thanks CrazyMare, you're right, great place to start :)

I like the look of Orchard Glasnost & Daydream :)

Bernwode Brokat is very lovely as well, have you met him? Has he got a good temperament? In the looking over the door picture he looks to have a lovely kind eye, but he could just be eyeing up a carrot :D

Bernwode Brokat has amazing looks, temperament, movement and has passed this on to the foal I had this year, here she is

Yes, I have met Brokat, he is owned by a friend of mine.

He is an absolute gentleman, I really couldn't rate him any more highly.

On the Elite Stallions link, Don't Worry, Highlight and Champion De Lux all have Golden Dancer, who is a fabulous sire of dressage ponies. Certainly one I am keen on.

Another line to look out for is Black Boy & Viktoria's Chirac have both produced some lovely stallion sons.

Have a look at Ambrey Chester up at End House. He's SPSS too and has produced some lovely stock; I'm very pleased with mine who is out of a similar type and size of mare to yours although we don't know her breeding but she's had 3 by Chester; the first made 14.2 and was Champion Mare at the SPSS grading as well as having 2 Futurity Firsts, the next is 15.2 and mine looks to be finishing up about 15 hands and a real sport pony that moves very well.

Thanks Maesfen, I spotted Chester on my trawl through the sport pony website, he looks nice indeed and am not normally a fan of warmblood types!

How big is your mare? Do you have a picture at all of any of your foals by him? :)

I love the temperaments thrown through the Casino Royale K lines, (Champion De Lux) we have a number of youngstock coming through by him who are all totally adorable, fantastic movers and with the most superb temperaments!!!!!!!

Our FS Dont Worry colt although hand reared is fabulous as well!!!!!!

Have PM'd you

The 2 in my sig are by Gorsfraith Brenin, sec D, they are full brother and sister both have been super competition ponies. He stands at Trevoulter Barton Stud. The full brother to our 2, Trevoulter Silver King is also standing this year.

Sasha is 14.1 and was graded with SPSS before I bought her. This is her with Tonka (sorry, there's a few! :o)

He's four months old in this video, you can see how much he's grown! He's now 14.2 (just two) so I expect him to get to 15 hands.

I didn't take many pics of him as a yearling, he was so angular and ugly!

This was about two months ago and he's evenly matured so much more since then

I persueded my old boss to breed her PBA 14.2hh mare to Brokat and it was a super colt who did very well at the Futurity. He is certainly a stallion I would highkly recommend, in part because his owner is super to work with.
Some stonking little dressage stallions here in germany but I think you have so much choice in the UK now that you'll easily find one to suit you. Would probably be worth not breeding to a stallion over 15hh as a foal that will measure in as a pony (14.2hh) should be easier to sell than a 15.0hh ish. However if it is very correct in its conformatiojn with good limbs, there is of course the WHP and SHP market that you could think about.

Thanks everyone, didn't know there were so many nice pony stallions out there!

Shortist list so far includes Brokat, Chester (Maesfen thanks for the pictures, he's a smart chap!) Indien-de-Here, Daydream (Bathley Hill) and a few others mentioned...... I also still like uptons deli circus, tho he's not really a pony stallion!

There are some beautiful section d's out there, but what do we think about the NF x Section D mix? Am not really wanting to breed to a NF (no offence NF fans, I love mine just want a slighly different type of foal).

Cruiseline, is the sec b x warmblood foal grown-up? Would love to see how he turns/turned out :D was he planned?? :D

Volatis good points that you raise, I need to have a good think about what I want to breed for, at the moment aiming for a mother/daughter hunt/pc type share. As mare very pretty with cracking paces a WHP or SHP or dressage/event pony is a possiblity (hence wanting a sport pony stallion) so need to have a think about heights again, or maybe just choose the stallion and see how foaly turns out

Thanks again everyone :D
