I recently was lucky enough to have a masterclass with my youngster and the trainer suggested I try a sports psychologist to address my irrational nerves. She gave me the number of a BEF federation one who coaches the world class people. I have lost it and also was a bit

about using someone who would be coaching top level competitors when I am clearly not.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences good and bad they could offer and suggestions for good ones? PM if you prefer

Many thanks

I have recently done a diploma in NLP and found it really helpful. I feel much more laid back about things and I am much more focussed on what I want. Whether it will help my nerves remains to be seen but I feel I will be better prepared than ever which will help the nerves. I have also bought Simple Steps to Riding Success to help.

I have had TFT in the past which has really helped my nerves and I went from wanting to faint while Sjing and not having the use of my legs and being paralysed by nerves to being a lot more chilled about it. For me my dressage is always pretty good and then it falls apart in the Sjing. TFT is really helpful and I know several members of the forum have had great success with Jo Cooper. http://www.equestrianconfidence.com/

I am not sure a sports Psych would help me that much as actually a lot of my issues are confidence and so I need to build that up. I need to go in and perform straight away rather than waiting for something to happen before I ride properly.

My friend is currently doing her sports psych accreditation with the BEF Sports Psych!! She has helped me lots and is used to dealing with 'grass roots' riders. If you are interested, then PM me and I can pass on her details to you!
