Got an email today as a reply to an advert for our horse. I quote:

"I saw your ads while surfing the internet, and i am very interested in the purchase of your horse, and moreover i have used the exact model of the horse"

"i am willing to make payment via check/money order, this is because my client in the Usa is owing me and is willing to pay me with that,i am ok with cost of the which is £7000,and i will be sending you £3995,the funds involved is for the shipping of the horse, because i am a resident of the Netherlands, and am here in the Uk for business,my shipping agent which i am using for over 3 years now will come for the pickup fo the horse, when you get the payment, you will deduct the cost of the horse and send the balance to my shipper,i dont want you to be responible for the shipping in any way, thats why i am doing this....."

and the best bit.....

"I will like you to get back to me with the following details,
Full Name:
Full Address:
Phone/Mobile Number:
Zipcode:
and the recent condition of the Vehicle, and some photos of it if available....."

Don't think i'll be answering that one!!!!

My friends exboyfriend did fall for it and had the fraud police arrest him and freeze his bank account. What a plonker!

Hi, obviously this is an out and out scam, and because of just this scenario I've recently created a website with forum. It's basic at present but due to having been at the wrong end of a horse purchase some 12 months ago, from what turns out to be a Rogue Horse Dealer I've created RogueHorseDealer.com

It has a forum and I'd be most grateful if you could warn other forum members (as they build over the coming months) of your experience.

The industry has thousands of horse buyers who have been caught out one way or another, so I want to build a comprehensive point of reference so that horse buyers both new and experienced can gather as much back ground information on both dealer and private seller before making their horse purchase.

I appreciate your assistance in warning others.

Regards
Terry Johnson

Had loads like that when selling cars OR when placing WANTED ADS - stupid people, I replied saying how thick do you think I am and that the ad states clearly wanted, it's not like they even try to be clever!
