I took it for a bit of fun but I do think geldings tend to be calmer as they don't have the hormones that mares and stallion have. There is also that thought that stallions are some incredible animals, potentially very flighty and sharp, but mares should just behave like geldings.
I love my mares but they aren't as easy going as my gelding.
