Spots does Regionals.... And Shocks us all!!! (lots of pics!)

Thanks everyone :) still can't believe it's real!

I am hoping for a wildcard but not getting my hopes up!
He's qualified for PetPlan at prelim but obviously I would rather do the national class so 110% won't be crying myself to sleep if we get a wildcard and have to forfeit my PetPlan prelim!

That is not what I meant. I *think* you cannot do Regionals and Area Festival finals at the same level in the same year. So having done the Regionals at Prelim you cannot do the Area Festival Nationals at Prelim also this year. It's rule 112.b.iv "Combinations competing at Regional Champtionships are ineligible for Area Festivals at that level or below in the same calendar year except for Freestyle classes, when they only lose their eligibility to compete in Area Festivals if they compete at the Winter Championships".

It's all very complicated and maybe I have misundertood it, but it might be worth an e-mail to the BD office to clarify.

I made a call pre-regional entry to confirm this. The area festivals were not in the same Callander year (2013) as the winter regionals this current year so it only applies that I can't do prelim PetPlan area festivals in 2014.
There were a fair few people in my class who have qualified for PetPlan finals so I hope for the sake of us all bd have informed me correctly!

I actually posted to clarify on the forum too - http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/foru...-about-eligibility-Regionals-amp-PetPlan-Help

Having a little panic now! Will be on the phone to BD on my lunch ... "/

Sorry, sorry I don't mean to panic you! Hopefully I have misunderstood it, but if you just did (in 2014) the Regionals at Prelim you can't do the Areas at Hartpury also in 2014? That's how I see it, but honestly the rules are a complete nightmare and I don't know how even BD make sense of them!

The rule says 'area festivals' not 'area festival championships' so I think that may be where the confusion is. I have had email confirmation from BD that says (in brief!) "unless you qualify through regionals, you still have your place at Hartpury in the PetPlan finals"
Again, ill call them and confirm, I think a lot of people will be snookered if you're correct! Lets pray and hope the rules are just confusing us all!

This was the email if this helps;

Dear Chantelle,

Thank-you for your e-mail, you can do the Winter Regionals, however if you qualify for the winter championships it is at this point that your Area Festival Champ qualification is removed. However if you do not qualify from the winter regionals you can still take your place at the Area Festival Championships,

Kind Regards

Karen Beaumont

I think the not competing in regionals & area festivals at the same level in the same year refers to the area festivals in summer/autumn this year :) So you now can't compete in the area festivals at prelim again, but you can do the AFC because you're already qualified - unless you get a wild card to the nationals!

Well done and congratulations

Your horse is stunning and your smile says it all

Everything crossed for that wildcard!

No, that's not correct. You can do the Winter Regionals and still do the Area Festival Champs as long as you don't qualify from Regionals for Nationals. What you can't do is compete at Area Festivals later this year at same level as you did Winter Regionals. I am 100% sure about this as did it myself several yrs ago and BD have confirmed ok again this year.

That's as I understood it and how BD have explained it to me. Thank you for settling my mind, I'd be gutted if I lost my place at Hartpury being my first year and all! (It's very exciting for us newbies!)

Booboos, I think the "year" is run like a school year, rather than a calender year :) So Summer/Autumn 2013 - Summer/Autumn 2014.
