interested in answers.

There are a few. Depends on where you can buy as to what you can get. If you buy through an agronomist you can access a wider variety, and they are usually cheaper. If you want to buy through Mole Valley or similar they will have advisors to talk to you. Usually they'll recommend Grazon 90 or similar.

You need to spray when weeds are growing strongly, at the start of a dry spell. April/ May is usually best. Second treatments are often needed 1-2 months after the first. Don't forget to allow AT LEAST the recommended rest period before putting horses back on the land.

Certainly way too late and way too wet if you were thinking you could put some on now...

I have successfully used Hy-D Super on all my weeds this year including ragwort. Its around £40 for 10 litres and you dilute it down so one 10 litre tub has down all of our 16 acres this year. We did have a lot of ragwort though so it will probably last you even longer. I bought mine from the internet on pitchcare.

thanks everyone, thats great,, yes it will be next april, just didnt know best month to spray. great answers, thanks again.

The effective pesticides ( ie the ones that will do the job properly) cannot be applied unless you have PA1& something else such as 6. PA is pesticide application, 1 is compulsary, 6 is knapsack sprayer, there are various ones and you legally need 1 & something else. Unless you were born before 31 Dec 1964 hence grandfather rights, but even in hat case you should have received adequate training.

If you don't have the qualifications you would be better to get someone to do it who does, rather than buy lesser chemicals which will be more expensive and less effective, or break the law (and potentially risk your health).

It is also usually cheaper to get a tractor sprayer in. For instance I spot sprayed 2.5 acres and it cost me less to do the neighbouring 2.5 using a man who could (tractor) than it did me buying the chemicals. It took him 8 minutes. It took me about 8 days

We have a bracken bruiser for sale incidentally, it tows from a 4x4 or quad etc. our bracken is all dead since we got it
