Hello! Well got back very late last night from wales with 2 nice new rosettes after taking Murphy to cricklands. Was very please with him we had 4 poles down and one refusal over the whole (5 stage) weekend but Murphys only really been back in full work and jumping for 3 months and this was his 3rd sj comp with me. And 2 of the poles were in the jump off of the last day and he was shatterd!

The refusal was entially my fault but I'm a bit puzzled by the way every pole was the first bar of a spread... I think he wasn't picking his back legs up fast enough. Was hoping you might be able to offer some advise/ exersises I can do with him to get him picking up his behinds faster, thanks (:

Providing no pain related issues anywhere or lack fo fitness: Bounces, pole work and gridwork I'd guess! :) Maybe even pop some weighted boots on the back?

He is very fit atm because I wanted him to be able to handle the competition and I'm thinking bout hunting him this winter, I think his back may be a little sore as he is stiffer on the right rein and favours the left leg so I might get that looked at anyway. Will do more bounces with him I think as only done a few and maybe try weighted boots thanks for the suggestion (:
