Sprenger Bits

I am thinking of buying a Sprenger for my mare, and was wondering what size I should get. She is in a 5 1/2 regular eggbut snaffle...

It would be a loose ring KK Ultra I think.

Ummm well I have bought all of mine off ebay and they have been advertised as normal mouth size in inches - so 5 and a half is 5 and a half

But I have heard that to avoid pinching with loose rings you need to increase the size of the Sprenger...

I have a sprenger that I am using at the moment, just a normal loose ring, with a flat link, not the nugget sort. And it is 5.5" the same as she always takes. Apart from her myler as that is supposed to come a little big, so hers is a 5.25".

Dont increase the size, it can cause the bit to drop too low in their mouths. HAve you tried the Neue schule? Havent found a horse that goes any differently to how they go in a Sprenger, and half the price.

Hmmm, so it looks as though I should still be looking at the 5 1/2 Sprenger then?

My daughter's mare objects violently to any other bit other than her Sprenger!

I got 5.5 for May, same as her happy mouth one she was originally in! Got it off ebay for a bargain price of £19!!!!
