I have the normal Sprenger bendy ones and they're worth every single penny. The Bow Balance ones look good, but I didn't like the wide tread. I have tiny size 2.5 feet and think that tread would take up all my foot
IMO the bow balance ones feel no different to the normal ones, apart from the wider tread. I found the bow balance irons for sale cheaper than I could fine the straight ones so I went for them, but if I bought another pair I'd go for whichever was cheapest.
I can definately feel the difference between the Sprenger irons and normal irons though!
I love mine and couldnt be without them, I havent tried the normal ones though i just assumed the bb ones are a safety version of them as they are like bent leg irons??
The orignal bendy ones are safety aswell as they do bend sideways aswell as forwards and back and so they do release the foot from the side, and trust me I've had experience of falling off using them and they definately released me easily and have done so on many occasions though never when I didn't want them to. I've also been loking at the BB ones and since I have now got wider feet I may move to them (only 1/4" wider though and it's mostly a different make of boot). The only thing that I would say is be careful to measure your boots width carefully as they do sometimes come up a little small.
Thanks again, I thought someone told me the new ones were quick release?!
Makes sense that just the flexing in both does the same thing so will probably go for which ever I can find cheapest
Interesting about sizes, it's tricky as my winter boots are Muck Boots so come up wide, my summer boots are Ariat Devon Pros so much narrower! Will measure both and see, current bent leg irons are 4 3/4.
When I got my BB's they were only available in one size, not sure if that is still the case? But I ride in my chunky yard boots and Dubarrys sometimes and am very comfortable. There are some on Ebay for just under £80?
i've got them and love them, so comfy and they seem safe as more like bent leg? or maybe i'm just a sucker for a gimmick! i got mine when they first came out and they are still going strong.
