Hi there

Thinking about purchasing one of these for my boy, he's in a chunky (probably 16 or 18mm) cottage craft bit with cheek pieces and its heavy and i just dont think it sits well in his mouth. Anyway it's time to change as we can steer (he's just 5 now) but he has a really little mouth and low palate so thinking of the 14mm in the Sprenger.

Does anyone have any opinions on this bit, specifically the 14mm in comparison to the 16? And if he is in a 5.5 just now am I right in thinking a 5.75 would be the size to go for in the loose ring snaffle?

Thanks so much! :)

I have one and all my horses seem to like it. I would go for the thinner bit for preference, but I bought mine on advise from the Saddlery Shop. Sprenger Bits are quite expensive, so if you have any doubts worth giving them a ring as they do know their bits!! From memory, they do a service where you can hire a bit and then buy it if it works for you and your horse! There are other people who do a simliar service.
