Looking at upgrading my stirrups and have stumbled across these, they seem really expensive but if they are worth it I don't mind paying the bit extra for the benifits. I do have joint problems from hip down to my ankles so these seem like the right direction to go in.

Does anyone have a pair of these? Are they really more comfortable?

Where is the cheapest place to buy them from as lets be honest they ARE expensive?!

Thanks everyone, all I have on offer is some slightly burnt toast :o

Have you tried the cheaper versions? - i shattered my ankle and right leg years ago and constantly get jip with it but I bought some flexi irons from wychanger barton they were about £40 i thnk they flex really nicely and are so lovely to ride in - i have ridden in the sprenger ones and actually found that the turn aggravated my injury but were all different you may find them fine but for the price i'd see if you could at least try some ones first if i was you as i thought theyd suit me really well and didn't.

I have arthritis in both of my knees since showjumping as a child. I find the Sprenger offset eye system 4 stirrups a god send. I like the fact when I drop stirrups they are in place and easy to pick back up. I have been using mine for at least 8 years and wouldn't be without them. I also have the Sprenger Bow Balance and both are a million miles apart from cheap copy versions :)

This is what I'm riding it at the moment and although they are far more comfortable than normal stirrups, they are very heavy and I just want something a bit more streamlined if that makes sense ;)

Thank you for your advice of trying them though, I might have to see if anyone I know rides in a pair :o

I'm similar, dodgy knees and iffy hips, I have the offset eye Sprengers, well worth the money, I bought mine via ebay. I didn't get on with the Bow Balance stirrups though.

thats ok the ones i have are really lightweight lighter than my friend sprengers in fact as i remember commenting on it - i'll try and find the exact make of mine

Thank you :) I can't believe how heavy mine are sometimes! When I take my stirrups off my saddle is half the weight lol!

I have the bow balance they really are great, I use them on my jumping saddle and really does help with my dodgy hip, getting old now all all that ;O

Are they offset eyed, the cheaper versions also do not have the same System 4 mechanism which is patented by Sprenger which is what take the pressure off the joints? That is what makes all the difference as there is no tension in the twist being offset. As with most things, it is often worth paying the extra and having top quality, tested products that are perhaps pricier but have all the relevant patents.

Yep those are the ones :) I love the idea of the swivel as that is my biggest problem with normal stirrups as my ankles just don't bend the way they should lol

Me in my Sprenger Offset Eyes :)

Have a look at the Royal Rider angled stirrups. Really lightweight and angled to get your stirrups back easily. They have a large tread are and the cheesegrater tread. I found these really good to ease the pain in my ankle and never lost a strirrup. They were stolen with my tack and I haven't replaced them yet at as they are expensive, but I did go back to an old pair of sprenger bow balance and put the cheesgrater tread in, which is OK ish. This post has just made me realise that I must get on ebay and order some more!

Hi my horse has been retired recently and selling loads of stuff got a pair of sprenger system four for sale if your interested pm me thanks

Thank you everyone! You've all been super helpfull as always :D

I've decided to go with Inter Equine just because they have some lovely matchy matchy stuff that I've added to my order ... whoops :o

I must be the only person who doesnt like jumping with flexi stirrups :o I hate the feeling when they move when jumping. Mine (not sprenger) have been relegated to the dressage saddle and I just have to put up with my ankles hurting riding short.

I don't jump as can't ride short at all, or ride at all without flexi's of some description
I just hate that the flexi's are so much heavier!
