How big do these come up?

Horse is a 5" mouth and they only do 4.5" or a 5" which I think will be too big
As have been told that they are about 1/4" big.

BUT will the 4.5" be too small? I want it snug so it doesn't slide over the tongue but obviously not too small

For the Dynamic you want to go a 1/4 of a size down as it's a curved mouthpiece. The actual mouthpiece measured in the curve would stillbe 5 inches, but the size you'd require would be 1/4 less. I found The Horse Bit Shop really helpful when I ordered mine, although my boy's mouth is much bigger than you horse's, I personally think to go down half an inch it would be too small.

The sprenger bits are measured in centimetres which is why you may have heard they come up large - they are a tad over 5 inchs if you are looking at a 13 cm one.

I have a dynamic and a KK for the same horse - both 13 cms - both of which fit and the horse is happy with. Personally I would not go to a 4.5 inch for my particular horse - but it all depends upon the individual horse and the conformation of their mouth.

Yes ideally I need a 4.75 but they don't do it in the dynamic - hmmm really not sure what to order now - really need it to be snug so doesn't slide but 4.5 does sound small
