I know quite a few people who use them for dodgy joints and everyone recommends them! I have one pair but am going to need to buy another for my other saddle when I can ride again as they should help my problem too!

I have these on my saddles- have used them for years!- they are fab in my opinion as I used to have a bad knee, they really do take the pressure off of your joints- I can notice the difference when I ride other horses that don't have these stirrups!- I have also tried the cheaper versions but I haven't found them as half as good!

I think they're brilliant. I don't know what's wrong with my knees but since I was little they've played up and always been painful for riding and after riding, it's just one of things I'd learnt to accept. But since using those stirrups the pain has stopped. Whether it's coincidence or due to the stirrups I don't know. But on the offchance it's the latter I can highly recommend them.

I do find the treads a bit slippery though...

I had a pair of the Spreger Bow balance Stirrups for x-mass. I love them, i do suffer joint problems & i get off now like i havent even ridden when ive schooled for an hr. But i seem to have a much improved leg position with them also. Been able to drop my stirrups a hole since using them.

I only got them for safety really so all the other stuff is a bonus. Don't like riding in normal stirrups now need to get another pair for my other horse as i hate swapping & changing stuff.

P.S My Bow balance one's where the same price as those you've posted. Bought them from Hey Farm saddlery.

they're very very good. i damaged my knee badly a few years ago, these really help. i've got a pair of the bow balance ones too, and i think they're even better tbh.
if you know anyone in Germany, they're half the price over there, btw. my 2 pairs of the original ones cost £40 each there... worth a try if you know anyone there!

They are fantastic! I was bought some by my OH about 5 or 6 years ago as a christmas pressie - clearly we are such romantics! I have since invested in a few pairs for diff saddles etc and wouldnt go back to anything else. However i dont use them for x-c.

I get aching ankles when I ride short (which isn't often but I certainly couldn't hunt with normal stirrups). I've tried the Sprenger Bow Balance irons once and have ridden in the "normal" System 4 Safety ones a few times (canter work, where I have to ride fairly short and be up out of the saddle for a long time compared to what I'm used to) and have never got bad ankles with them. I also found it nigh on impossible to lose my stirrups with the Bow Balance ones. I'm now trying to justify spending that amount of money on them (instead of putting it away in my horse fund)! They are very nice though and stop my ankles bouncing about quite so much in my useless attempt at sitting trot!
ETS: oh dear god now I've found Hey Farm Saddlery like someone suggested - £80 I have to have them!!

My friend has the Sprengers (4 way) on her saddle and when I started riding her mare, I immediately noticed the difference- no pain in my knees, back or ankles and no pain in my ankle when I dismount.

I have suffered with arthritis in my knees since I was a teenager as well as having various back problems (also hereditary) so these stirrups really are a godsend!

I couldn't afford the Sprengers but found the Thorowgood version on Ebay (these are marketed as being 6 way) and bought those for my saddle as they are half the price. They feel exactly the same as the Sprengers but have grey rubber instead of black- that's it! Plus you get a extra pair of cheese grater treads (which I haven't tried yet).
