Spring Grass - anyone else?

Hi, is it just my horse who seems to have turned into a lunatic on the spring grass? I stopped feeding him a few weeks ago as he was getting a little porky and I'm sure someone is sneaking him a bucket of Oats every night - he's so lively! Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
 
Not had the extra energy, just the problem of weight, as once horse is still slightly underweight and the other is expanding like a balloon

My mare is livelier than a box of frogs - every grass rustle is noticed and she is very keen at the moment! (Lunge rein is getting a lot of use!)

Haha! So I'm not the only one resorting to the lunge rein then?

I want the sun to come back out now and frazzle all the grass! I've even tried keeping him in at night but it makes him worse (plus he is v greedy and eats his bed, so it doesnt help his diet, either!)
 
Oh yes - mine has been like a hyperactive child whose eaten too many blue smarties !!! He's normally pretty placid and he's an old chap so I think the spring grass takes longer to work its way through his system - he gets that 'wild' look in his eyes !! Normally it takes me a good 10-15mins in walk to loosen him up enough to get him moving forward but the other day we went ping ponging around the school for 15 mins in a very unmannered canter

b4 he'd got rid of enough energy to even think about concentrating on work !!

Maybe I'll stop snooping around the yard to find the secret stash of super strength oats then - it doesn't look like someone is out to sabotage my schooling sessions after all! lol

Come back sunshine - all is forgiven....
