Spring grass making steed feel very well!

So Gs field mate wouldn't be caught this morning and owner corralled both into the arena adjacent to field in order to catch him from there...G decided he was not required so just hopped back over the 5 bar gate back into his field to continue grazing!

It did prove quite an effective move as field mate was so taken aback he stood stock still and was subsequently caught!!

Anyone else finding their horses are feeling rather well at the moment?! :D
 
Yes- mine was a mess of bucking and farting today in the field :p

Ridden wise... he has been taking the "wee-wee" all week :rolleyes:
They all had a good gallop and fart the other day- was lovely to watch!
A welsh D trotting in circles head tucked in snorting, the old dale's running around trying to keep up, compact cob- I swear he was going for a handstand, and the two Highlands... whatever they were doing was indescribable.. - beautiful western sliding stops though! :p:rolleyes:
 
Mine has got a lot of spring in his step, and a great need to prance. Big show off all round and I am enjoying his love of galloping fast.
 
Mine appears to be having hallucinations....... Seeing bush monsters and properly planting, snorting and being a general pain...... He's usually completely bombproof and still doesn't spook at scary stuff, just does it when there's abseloutley nothing there! Does make me laugh though and musnt complain, he's much more forward than usual haha
 
My horses don't change at all in spring /summer and put it down to the mag I feed them. Spring grass is very low in mag which will make the horses appear " full
off it" and people blame it on the grass where as it fact they are not getting the mag in their diet that they need. Hence people start buying expensive calmers this time off year which they will recomend because they work. When all they are doing is boosting mag levels. Grass effects cows in the form off " staggers" and it effects horses by making them hypo but it's the lack off mag in the fast growing spring grass not the grass itself.

But I've got the a naturally hyper pony on practically box rest (only out for 2-4 hours a day as very lami prone) ..
I'm having to just slip the leadrope through her headcollar as she prances all the way and as soon as she is two strides into the field she gallops off! :p

Spring grass is also high in sugar, especially the young short shoots in e daytime sun, i feed all mine mag ox, they're still full of it.
 
Potentially yes to the showjumping! After pandering to him 'because he is old' he seems to be doing everything he can to prove that he's still got it and can keep going like the best f them.

Might go off and read that 'why do people slow down 19/20yos' thread now, could make for interesting reading!
 
Yep :D first pc rally this year and we were on a mission the whole time which was great fun. We jogged round our hack yesterday and we generally have a lack of breaks at the moment :D. He randomly canters off round the field at full speed which he wouldnt normally do and apart from being extra opinionated he is quite good fun this time of year.
 
Yes!! My usually bombproof cob was spooking at some rubbish bags on the drive next to her field yesterday, which she sees all the time and usually ignores! She also thinks that she has turned into a racehorse in the field with a few bucks and farts thrown in for good measure!!
Its my first spring with her..... Anyone know how long this 'spring fever' lasts?????
