So I'm thinking spring is definitely just around the corner, well hoping desperately with all fingers and toes crossed as this weather is beginning grate on me (and im sure all other horse owners) to say the least!

Signs it's almost spring:

1. Little green things seem to be just creeping through the mud we call 'grazing'
2. We took the horses for a hack in the little bit of sunshine we got today and they were just slightly fizzy, not to mention every horse we met seemed to be high as a kite!
3. Every evening I come home covered in more and more horse hair!
4. I thought it was about time celine had her spring trim, she is a thoroughbred after all!

Trim in progress -

Showing off her new fringe (many people say this is her ugly side as she has a 'piggy eye' but I think she's beautiful -

And lastly a little snippet from our hack once they were a little more sensible! -

Bring on Spring!!

Looking good...cani offer one piece of advice? Please dont tie up in a pressure halter/rope halter such as that...they are not designed to break if the horse panics or in an emergency and can inflict a lot of damage. :) Roll on spring.

I hope you are right. Winter has seemed very long!
Isnt it just! Its actually insane but looking back a few years ago, i remeber it snowing on my birthday (april) so maybe its like this every year, we just always wish for it to be warmer/sunnier/nicer :P

Thank you for the advice however I have problems with her in a conventional headcollar, I always tie her in this with a blocker tie ring and 22ft rope so it just pulls through if she were to panic.

Thats fair enough, thank you for the explanation. My mare can be a cow to tie up at times, i use a tie breaker, love it :)

Which area of kent are you in? You've stolen our sun!! my horses field resembles a pond! She could do breast stroke in it!

No worries, I get asked it a lot! Everyone one needs different things, different approaches with their horses :) .. We are right in the south east, Canterbury way.. Was lovely and sunny this afternoon. We only have one 3 acre paddock for our two horses and thankfully apart from gateways it's looking pretty good!

You know, it does sometimes feel like we do have a halo of good weather around our little area! We seem to miss the worst if it! Our little field is a god send as well.. The field is so naturally sheltered, it can be hurricane winds outside but you'll only feel a slight breeze up the yard.. Bliss!

Yay happy news! Soon it will come up the country then!
Can i ask what have you used to do mane or did you pull it? I know only pics but if pulled didn't it take ages?

Hello :) I used a solocomb to do her mane, took a grand total of 20mins while she ate her dinner!

Oh dear. According to the forecast this is coming to a place near me soon too. Just said on another thread - feel a "full livery aka duvet day" coming on friday.

can i ask what bridle do you use ? thinking of trying mine bitless

The style of mine and the way it works is a dr cooks however I have the easytrek version as my pockets aren't that big and I preferred the more padded nose band. She goes fantastic in it, it was the best decision I ever made!
