Spring - on the way 😀 ???

March - in like a lion out like a lamb? ……and it’s wet and windy today- again, although sunny yesterday. For once l’m happy about the weather, just hope it’s correct.

It's more lamb-like here. Glorious sunshine and very little wind. The ground is still horrendously wet though, so we can't get machinery on to do anything.
Definitely seeing signs of Spring, with snowdrop, daffs and crocusses showing colour and catkins/leafbuds appearing on the bushes.

Shuffled around in the garden for two happy glorious days, loads of colour starting to come through everywhere. Today it is once more cold, very windy and very wet. Ho hum.

Yesterday it definitely felt like the start of Spring. Today I thought it was a good idea to have a really good clean out of the stables and after getting stuck in the mud trying to get the wheelbarrow to the dung heap, I've decided that nope, it's still very much winter

Cloudy, dry and windy here today. I will take that with open arms. Wind is annoying but dries the ground nicely!

Friday night was horrendous here. We have suffered flooding along the Trent and the Mease. Our tack room was flooded overnight for the first time this year, despite all the other heavy rain we have had. The weather improved Saturday afternoon and thankfully today has been dry. Next week looks pretty dry and warmer so fingers crossed we are over the worst although I'm not holding my breath!

A lovely spring like day here today - blue skies with sun shining and just a few fluffy white clouds and a gentle breeze. Horses have gone out naked and I will just have to close my eyes to the mud when they come in. Lawns were cut last week

Hopefully this isn't a false spring and will continue like this for the foreseeable future.

Last week I had cause to ask the question of my animals: "why is everybody choosing chaos tonight?"

Quite aside from the buds, blossom, curlews and lambs, this has always been my surest omen that spring is upon us.

Mine who has been sedately hacking up and down the lanes for the last 6 months randomly chose violence last night. Screaming his head off dramatically when he saw another horse, cantering sideways all the way home, near enough tried to kill us both when he spotted an offensive flappy tarp through the hedge. "Ah, spring in here" I muttered to myself through gritted teeth as we bounced along.....

It’s been lovely here for the past two days - grass is definitely growing now. Horses were out naked - and I’ve even left fly rugs on tonight - they aren’t clipped and one is overweight. I was going to put 0g on them but they had been running about just before I went to them and were rather warm so I decided against it, it’s not meant to be cold here tonight but this is the earliest I’ve ever left their rugs off overnight!

Not as exciting as curlews, but heard my first yellowhammer of the year. No idea if this is a recognised indicator of spring, but nice to hear in addition to the skylarks

It's been sunny in Cambridgeshire today and hasn't rained much for a couple of days. It feels like Spring is finally on its way.
