Does anyone use the springy type stirrups with the chain link down the sides? I get really sore knees when I trot a lot so was wondering whether they'd be any good. I've seen some in Robinsons so might get them.
I have Sprenger System 4's. They are great, really help my knees and ankles. They were about £90 a pair when I got them, I know there are cheap copies, but I've not felt the same benefits riding with them as with my Sprengers. Oh and mine are 5 1/2 years old and still look new.
Yes ditto the above re Sprenger System 4's- have 2 Pairs on my Dressage saddles , have used them for years and they really help with my knees and ankles too! -
I have a cheaper pair on another saddle and they are definitely better/more comfortable than normal stirrup irons but not as soft and springy as the Sprenger ones.
Well I got mine from Robinsons and they are rip off sprengers and about £25.00 and they do what sprengers do so why pay more? Go on ebay and see how cheap they are on there. I bought them for my bad back (prolapsed disc) and I also borrowed a Heather Moffat seat saver which helped with concussion too.
I've got the Thorowgood T6's which are similar to the Sprengers and I find them very comfortable, think they were about £60. I rode the other day in ordinary stirrups and really noticed the difference!
I bought a pair of Sprengers earlier in the year as I've got really dodgy knees due to flat feet, and also managed to damage one of my ankle ligaments. Both of these problems meant riding was quite painful, especially the day after I'd ridden. The Sprengers have made a huge difference, less pain when riding and the day after, more comfy riding too. Would definitely recommend
Definately definately worth it. Going to get for daughter as she gets achey ankles as well, and they help friend's wonky hip. Seem very well balanced. I haven't tried cheaper versions (my Sprenger were a Christmas pressie last year).
