hi
last night i went to the Sprit of the Horse show (currently at Lytham St.Annes) with my bf, a horsey friend and her bf (also my bfs mate!) so off we went. I realllllly dont know what i thought about it! my friend and her bf i dont think were too impressed, my bf LOVED it and after when we sneaked off to mc.donalds for tea (at 10.30 tut tut tut!) he said hes worried hes becoming too horsey as he liked it more than the 3 of us together!
i can appreciate what some of the horses do, and the vaulting etc was fab, there were some stunning horses but, it seemed very 'bitty' and the part with the miniture in

was just wondering if anyone else had been and if so what they thought!

I went to see it last August in Taunton with friends and the kids. We all loved it, expecially the comic horse! However we had a tour of the stables after and I do wonder if those horses could ever stretch their necks to eat grass! Also when the three men did their display with the long poles, one of them dropped theirs and the horse looked terrified and only just kept its composure for the rest of its act.

Went to the NEC to see it a couple of years back thought it was a bit like circus, agree lovely horses, very clever but not really my thing, wouldn't go again but enjoyed the evening

Went about 4 years ago and quite enjoyed it, although I did wonder about what sort of lives those horses had

i'm glad i am not the only one.
a livery of mine told me a few days ago how amazing and great it was and i wondered if i had missed something - i'm just relieved i had complementary tickets and didnt pay too see it

Went last year - hated it. Especially when the riders were winding the Andy's up to look good - except they didnt as they had cut the horses with their spurs and were quite litteraly dripping blood

Not my bag either I'm afraid - more for the non-horsey peeps me thinks.

I did have alot of respect for the training of one ladies horses - the one where they were all being loose schooled, but all very circuis like.

From the cruelty point of view, numerous competition animals have the same kind of life, so can't see how this is any different. You either agree with keeping horses stabled 24/7 or you don't.

And I know the free-schooling lady has her own place where the horses are turned away when not touring, so at least they get a bit of a break.

I hated it too. Lots of ears back and tail swishing from the horses, hands yanking at severe bits and harsh use of large spurs too. A big thumbs down in my book.

I saw it a couple of yrs ago, the horses all looked in excellent condition and I didn't see any cruelty as such. The tail swishing gave the game away though - all the horses looked agitated and stressed and I don't like seeing that. Unfortunately in many horse 'sport's' you see agitated and stressed horses, not my cup of tea either. I prefer my horse to enjoy what she's doing.

i went last year at stithians showground i thought it was good, but they were at the same venue for 4 or 5 nights, twice a day. thats way too much for any horse to cope with, i really disliked the loud music they played and the poor horses with the russian men was a bit scary!! they all looked healthy enough though.

I went to swindon last year loved some of it! But hated the russian men one horse fell badly while galloping round rider was carried off and when the horse came back on it was hoping lame
