Spur on hock?

I've recently been searching for past history of my ex racehorse, someone who bought him when he was in training replied with some information and said he had a spur on one of his hocks. Just wondering if anyone knew what this was exactly and could give me any more information about it? Thank you

A bony spur on a joint could be the result of a kick/injury or early degenerative joint disease depending on where it was.

my pony has a 1mm spur on the joint of her cannon bone - shes just been diagnose with early degenerative joint disease
