Spurs help please

Just a quick question - I have been advised by many people to try out some small spurs on my share horse (including by his owner and my instructor). I was told years ago not to wear spurs by another instructor as my leg position wasn't good enough, which put me off a bit, and I haven't worn them since. I will start off by having a few lessons with them on to ensure I am using them correctly. Anyway my question is, how small are small spurs? I have no idea what is considered as a "big" or "small" set of spurs!

If your worried maybe get some short rubbered ended ones. That way they wont be too sever. And if your instructor has the belief in you be brave!!!
No bigger than 15mm i call small/short

You can get a nice small set made by korsteel that are about half an inch long with a rounded ball. the trouble with small spurs is you always have to really turn your toe out to use them, i prefer to use longer dressage spurs which compromise my position less

The problem I had initially with the spurs was that my lower leg position meant that I stuck my toes out anyway, so was constantly digging the spurs in. Hence why they were whipped off me quick! However that was a few years ago now and my position and riding has improved no end since then, and if my current instructor thinks I'll be ok then I trust her totally. I found myself the other day having to dig my heels in to get a reaction from the leg, and yes I have tried schooling him into being more forward but it's difficult as I only ride him twice a week! His owner rides him in spurs when schooling and he works beautifully.
I was looking at the ones in the catalogues that were without rowels or anything on the end, but they seemed to start at 20mm and that seemed a bit long to me to be tiny ones? I'll have a scout for some 15mm ones though, thanks!
Maybe I should consider those Korsteel bling ones, I'm sure that'll impress his owner

there are some which are just little round balls about a cm in diameter. small ones generally would be about 1/2" long though, i think, and longer ones would be an inch or so.

Mine are Mark Todd and 20mm... They are really small with a ball end.
