I've been recommended to buy a pair of spurs as sometimes my horse won't move forward from a strong squeeze and will just extend her trot till you PC kick her and THEN she canters.

She's hyper responsive to the slightest tickle from a schooling whip, so that's not an option if i don't want a tight and tense mare.

I've never ridden with spurs before and i definately want something small/mild to start with -
recommendations?

I wear women's size 9 boots so was told i may have to get men's spurs?

Also - anyone tried these?

THANKS!

I use those spurs, and I believe they are recommended for people who haven't used them before

They are great! My chap is very thin skinned and I have marked him with 'normal' spurs

(much to my disgust

!), but the Impuls spurs have been awesome, he listens to them and they don't leave any marks!

i use short spurs on h rather than a whip as he tends to object to the whip and lashes out which really throws us off balance, he responds very well to the spurs and i've had no probs with them marking him, just use bog standard little ones and they're fine.
so long as u are well aware of them and use a soft leg then u should be fine.
