The mare I ride can be a bit stubborn to say the least.

Sometimes she can be ok to get going, but other times she's a right moose, more so when we're doing flatwork than when we're jumping.

Would spurs make a difference to how she goes? And does it matter what type of spurs are used? (Owners have some like these and some like these. )

Thanks, Lizzie

They can make a huge difference on some horses & very little to others, you won't know unless you try.

Only use spurs if you've got a secure lower leg. If you haven't used them before or have any doubts then maybe try them in a lesson to begin with or with an experienced friend watching who'll tell you if there's a problem.

Mine are the same as the ones in the first link, I prefer them to ones with a squared off end because I feel they're gentler - try running them both along your arm with a gentle pressure & see what you think!
