Hi all have you missed us? Don't answer that! Ok where do I start (for those that are interested)

Spyder has broken himself! Very badly thats why we haven't been on here for a while and I bet it has been sooooooo quiet.

Anyway are you ready for this! He ran into a tree while in the field stupid horse, not only did he run into the tree he took the bark off! The size of the bark that has come adrift is about a foot square! Pictures to follow. Anyway he has hit it on the Point of hock so he has damaged his sacrum, his right sacroiliac and his hip joint! Bloody horse. He has torn his tensor facia latea and his superficial gluteal and his bicep femoris (his arse end to most of us!) He done this three weeks ago and had the Chiropractor last friday. So just a long wait to see what long term damage is.

Thank you ER, I can't believe he is still upright, oh and I meant the point of the HIP not Hock silly me. He is allowed to stay out 24/7 so at least he doesn't get bored. I have spoken to MFH who was telling me about one of her Horses and said that it might take up to a year which is about the same diagnosis as Spyder. Hey ho at least we managed to cover before this happened. So no futurity for us although may take spoon but really need her to be sold now! I am so gutted we couldn't take on Lacey I hope it hasn't put to much of a spanner in the works for you either. Oh well it could have been a lot worse I suppose. Anyway tell me what you've been upto. x

Nice to see you back even though it was for a rotten reason! Hope he's feeling a bit better now the poor boy and it must have had a drastic effect on all of your plans but hopefully, he'll be bouncing back next year as if nothing happened.
Still tossing up what to do with Lacey this year now, I'm more fickle than the weather and changing my mind from day to day so I'm open to suggestions from anyone who is a bright spark!

I am so sorry to hear about Spyder, what bad luck. Hopefully he will be fighting fit for next year's covering season. At least he does not have to be on box rest which is a blessing.

They do the most irrational things at times. Finally got the yearlings out to grass and they both broke themselves escaping from the field (over deep drains, stone walls) in order to come home again because "they didn't like big wide open spaces - it was too scary". Having been found walking home bruised and battered, they are now back in the tiny, tiny paddocks around the house with swollen fetlocks, skin scraped off legs but thankfully otherwise sound.

Aww hun well you didn't spoil plans too much...just made us alter them!!! But hey ho.....Dotty is with me and we are awaiting her 14 day scan!!!! Fingers tightly crossed.

Maesfen - you know I would have had Dots if I could have afforded another!!!! Still trying to think of other options for her for you!!! How is she bred again?

Lol, you have Dotty on the brain! ;) Lacey is by Old Leighlin out of an Connemara JC mare, sadly, can't find her breeding, she came over long before passports were necessary but L has a NTR one.

Sorry to hijack S. :o

Oh Guys!! I am so sorry to hear this news! Thankfully he has youth on his side! Which should help with the repairing and healing. Poor chap and poor you guys too! I hope this hasn't scuppered too many of your plans with him?! I think I remember reading that the 'big' mare had at least been covered, has she scanned in-foal?

What a nightmare - it is amazing the harm that horses can manage to do to themselves - hope he heals well.

Sorry to hear one of your babies has hurt himself.
Sometimes I think they look out for any way of injuring themselves even in the most perfectly inocous flat field-a tree? D'OH!!
Hope he gets better soon, sending vibes his way x
