as in the thing you put in the horses mouth! ......... not any other bit(s) ;)

anyway....i have a lovely cottage craft gs full cheek with an elliptical link (snaffle) but it squeaks!

the squeak is around where the cheeks meet the mouth piece....unfortunatly not being as made as well as a neue shule etc... there is a slight gap around this joint and the cheek moves around a bit :/ - the squeak comes from oneside more than the other

its only a small squeak....like a 'sitting on a mouse' squeak BUT its HIGHLY irritating EVERY trot stride and i would love to get rid of it - permenatly! - ive tried sunflower oil..... :(

any ideas????
lots of heros for you all :)

I wouldn't want WD40 in my mouth! It has a very lingering and distinctive taste/smell.

I've always used whatever feed oil I've had on hand - linseed, corn etc - or something like peppermint oil or glycerin.

never put a bit in the dish washer :/ do they/the dishwasher come out alright???

may be ill try vaseline first! :)

I know what you mean about the squeaking being annoying op. My eggbutt snaffle does this all the time and it drives me crazy!

I think I might try the vaseline trick and see if it works!

The dishwasher works brilliantly!

If you want to cover all the bases, how about a power wash and then an oiling with whatever you've got in the kitchen?
