I schooled a horse for its owner on Sunday afternoon on the flat. This being the horse that I usually hunt. He is quite talented, moves beautifully and is very well put together.

I knew I would have my hands full as he was being an idiot when we walked round the block to warm up.

Asked him to work, which he did, and really rather well, but he kept on making these squeaky noises, not in a bad way, but in a more “sheer joy” way.

Anyone else come across a horse that does this?

Haha yes Bill's horse Saracen does this when you start jumping him he sounds so so silly! But then he also has a ridiculous whinny aswell!

Yes! My new horse squeaks and squeals at me all the time, definitely in a joyful way, he usually does a leap or two to accompany the noise!!

I found it really funny but his last rider found it very unnerving, he is only 4 & 1/2 so I think he just finds it all exciting.

My horse does this.

When she is excited, sometimes when I put her in to canter she will squeak!! And she does it more on the lunge when I put her into canter she will sometimes buck and squeal!! (SP)!

Winston does it all the time!

Usually just before he explodes or if hes jumping or on the lunge.
Its a common accurance and it makes me giggle lol

Yep, Bo can do this if he is feeling full of the joys. It usually precedes a big buck but if you know it's coming then it's no real problem

Yep my orange one, used to go round a XC course squealing the whole time, like it was the most exciting thing in the world. She still does it occasionally if I take her for a razz up the gallops! Strange thing is she is not very vocal at all, she doesnt whinney for her food or when sees me
