squeeling whilst being clipped

have never come across this before was clipping a friends pony on saturday and for the first 1/2 hour she kept squeeling every so often you would have thought we were killing her then she relaxed and no more squeeling strange

Could she have been in season? maybe she was a bit ticklish, was she worse when you did her belly ?

no she is not in season and was worse when up under her chin and on underside of neck

Just a mare's way of telling you to shove off and mind your manners or you'll cop it! It's what they do to pushy horses that invade their space and worry them. In a field, it's either accompanied or followed by striking out with the front legs or spinning and double barreling! She obviously realised that the clipping was gonna happen regardless and she was the only one getting worked up about it.
