Hi, I know there is alot of treads about towing but just wanted some more advice/ reviews on towing with a ssangyong korando (2l diseal not the 4x4 version). I've been thinking about getting a trailer to get my boy out and about but just don't want to risk towing with the car if people haven't had good experiences. My horse is a standardbred 16.2hh and probably ly about 650/700kg. Has anyone had experience towing this size horse with the car and also with what trailer? With the 85% towing capacity the car can apparently two 1,700kg. Thanks, all recommendations/reviews welcome ?

Bear in mind that trailers are approximately 950-1000kg. I've been looking at swapping my car and have considered anything with a max.braked towing weight of 2200kg as a minimum.

You might be better looking at the ssangyong rexton. It is selectable four wheel drive and I find it a really nice car to drive, although it is big so can be tricky to park.

I'm half in the market for another Rexton, but it would likely be an older one. Regarding parts, there is a chap in the West Mids who does a roaring trade in them and was also a very useful source of advice. I'm in Devon but whenever anything was needed for my old Rexton I'd send him a message and he'd post it to me no bother, so I wouldn't let that out you off. In general I found my old Rexton to be really reliable, bits needing to be replaced just because they'd worn out rather than there being anything wrong.

I towed with a Korando 2l diesel until swapping for a Rexton. I now have a 2017 Rexton so unless I go document searching I'm afraid I can't be specific about the spec of Korando I had. However, I towed an IW 505 and a 15.3hh ISH with absolutely no problems ie roads, fields, forestry areas, poor weather etc. I was most impressed with the Korando. At the time it had won a caravan towing award. The only reason for moving onto the Rexton was a change in my circumstances re horse & trailer ownership. Hope this helps.
