As before, anyone got experience with these look like they are efficient and in my budget but I know nothing about them (not even sure how you pronounce the name) Good/bad? any issues with parts since I presume they aren't common.

go with one of these over a frontera any day of the week, infact over most cars because they are phenomenal value for money. I know which model you are on about now, not had any dealings with that specific model but ssangyongs in general are of extremely high build quality. If you arent a poser and can put up with not having the right badge on a car really and truely you are laughing big style at everyone else forking out more ;) Good cars, go try one, you will be amazed. Sickeningly I'm far too honest having just told bakedbean off for slating fronteras as I have one for sale (not mine!) Go buy a ssangyong  :p :D

Wouldn't touch one again with a 10ft barge pole. Please please bear in mind they have almost no resale value and what little they do have is often undermined further by the fact that no-one will have heard of them and there won't be any dedicated dealers garages for hundreds of miles. I bought one 18 months ago (2 yrs old) as I needed a vehicle to tow a trailer. I should have taken it for a test drive but didn't because I was so wrapped up in the delight of having my own trailer. Here's the low down: 1) the bloody hand brake is the OTHER SIDE of the central console. If you're only 5ft 4in so need the driver's seat quite far forward, it is almost impossible to get enough tension on the hand brake. 2) I nearly got killed in mine when the hand brake wasn't on hard enough and all 2 tons of the bloody car started rolling backwards down my drive while I was standing outside it. I could NOT, EVER trust the hand brake on even a relatively gentle slope. 3) You might have trouble insuring it though I don't know why. I was with Direct Line before I bought the Kyron and when I rang up to advise them of the vehicle change they refused to insure it. 4) The electrics have a mind of their own. Don't ask. 5) Reversing down narrow country lanes is a nightmare. 6) The engine sounds like a Harrier Jump Jet coming in to land. Google the wretched vehicle and you'll see that they get slated for a noisy engine. 7) It's diesel and is NOT cheap on fuel! 8) If you're buying to tow, do your calculations carefully because the car's own weight has an impact on towing weights. 9) Be aware that a single NEW TYRE (Kwik Fit) will cost you £256. Honestly. 10) God only knows how much parts cost. I sold mine after 11 months and lost a massive £5,000 on it. I couldn't find a new Terios (my previous, much adored car) so instead I now have a Suzuki Jimny which is a fabulous little 4WD but it can't tow - no matter, I have a lorry now.

Please don't buy one! You'll regret it for years.

Christ BOF thats ridiculous and I think Kwik fit should be blamed for ripping you off here not the vehicle! There are some expensive tyres on some models of ssangyongs but think more 100 quid not 256!

Dont touch with a barge pole, I bought a rexton and it went back to the dealer who were most unhelpful 12 times in 18 months for constant problems. Parts take ages as they come from asia. It drinks fuel. Engine managment light spent more time on than off. As prev mentioned tyre costs are mega. We paid 14 thousand originally a yr and 10 months later the dealers bought it back for 8 then advertised at 12500. There are so few dealers. I know two other people who have them and have always had problems.
